AVON Named A Top 50 Global Green Brand For 2014???

For the fourth consecutive year, Avon has been named one of Interbrand’s “Best Global Green Brands.” The company ranked among the top 50 in the annual Interbrand report, which examines the gap between a corporation’s environmental practices and consumers’ perceptions of those practices.

Staying True to the Brand
In Avon’s section of the online report, Interbrand researchers state: “Avon has stayed true to its brand through philanthropic efforts focused on women and the environment. It continues hosting the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer with great success, and has donated millions of dollars through its Avon Foundation for Women. Avon has set lofty environmental goals to meet by 2020, and is on track to reach those.”

The online report highlights a number of Avon’s Corporate Responsibility efforts, including the company’s:

  • industry-leadership position in reducing GHG emissions
  • significant water-usage reductions across operations
  • reforestation initiative, “Healthy Forests, Beautiful World,” (formerly known as “Hello Green Tomorrow”)
  • partnership with the World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy to support critically endangered rainforests in Brazil and Indonesia.

The Power of Participation
The write-up also emphasizes Avon’s “unique asset” –  “the ability to educate, engage, and mobilize its more than six million Sales Representatives” and Associates around the world. In fact, the focus of the 2014 Interbrand report is the “power of participation” and “how every constituent in today’s global marketplace—businesses, consumers, employees, suppliers, governments and investors—will need to be engaged and willing to collaborate in order to take Corporate Citizenship to the next level.”

Interbrand is a leading global brand consultancy and releases the prestigious Best Global Brands Report each year, which Avon has been on since 2001. Deloitte is Interbrand’s research partner and developed the methodology to evaluate a company’s corporate environmental performance.

my thoughts…

I am so very proud of Avon and proud to be a Representative of it! I can only hope that I do their 128+ years of history proud. Not many companies can brag about that kind of history, especially given what this economy has been through in the last few or so years. Avon has mastered being able to reinvent itself to not only keep up with the trends, but even get ahead of them. Avon continues to put out top-notch products while keeping the prices reasonable and is also smart enough to keep customers’ favorites around. Plus the way they continue to support us Representatives and keep adding more and more training, incentives, and everything else for us, is just amazing since it seems that too many other companies are taking things away from their people. Not Avon. We are truly blessed with all they give us literally right at our fingertips to manage successful businesses and continue to grow right along with them.

Avon’s continued commitment to Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence is also another big reason I am so proud of them. This is a company that truly does know how to give just as much, if not more, than it recieves. Becoming a Representative of this company was the best decision I’ve ever made, and every day reaffirms that belief for me. I know I sound like I’m overselling or overstating, but I can’t help the way I honestly feel about Avon and all it stands for. Even if I quit today, I will always believe in this company and will always shout that loud and proud. Because even if people don’t believe me, Avon’s 128+ year history speaks for itself.
